About BP Logger

How BP Logger Came to Be

A few years ago, my wife and I were living our normal lives in our early 50s when she developed a persistent headache that sent us to the emergency room. After lab tests and a consultation with a cardiologist friend, we learned her headache was likely from a glucose spike—but he was more concerned about a high blood pressure reading. He asked us to monitor our blood pressure three times a day for 30 days and report back.

We bought a monitor and started tracking. Despite being tech-savvy, we just wrote everything down in a notebook—dates, times, readings, notes like "after running" or "just ate breakfast." When the 30 days were up, we faced a mountain of data: two people, three readings each per day, scattered across notebook pages. My wife read out the measurements while I typed them up. It took hours.

Our doctor found some readings too high and recommended lifestyle changes. He also asked us to keep tracking for another six months. As we continued this on-and-off monitoring over the years, I kept thinking: there has to be a better way.

That's when I decided to build BP Logger. With my background in software development, I set out to create an app that could read numbers directly from a BP monitor photo, or even extract multiple readings from handwritten notes—exactly like the ones we'd spent hours transcribing.

What We're About Today

We're a small team who built the app we wished we had when we started this journey. As people who also track our blood pressure, we know how important it is to have a tool that just works—one that helps you stay on top of your health without getting in the way of everyday life.

We use BP Logger ourselves to track our readings, and the doctors have been very pleased with the reports it provides. The app uses standard measurements that doctors are familiar with and find helpful for monitoring blood pressure.

Our photo recognition feature uses AI to read your BP numbers, and while it works well, it can still get better. If you'd like to help improve it, you can opt in to share anonymized data—this helps train our models to be more accurate for everyone. It's completely optional, and even if you opt in, we never see who you are or access any personal information.

Privacy matters to us because we're users too, and we choose products that respect our data. Your readings stay on your device. If you use optional cloud sync features, they're designed with your privacy in mind. We don't access your location or other personal information from photos. We can't see, sell, or share your data.

If you want a copy of your information, you can export everything to a CSV file from the Settings tab and share it however you like. Note: the CSV cannot be imported back into the app.

This app is for tracking purposes only and doesn't provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider before making any medical decisions.
